How does the veterinary match work?
The VIRMP is designed to create an optimal match between internship/residency candidates and available programs. It does this by asking candidates to rank the programs they’re applying to (in order of preference), while simultaneously asking programs to rank the applicants that they would be willing to accept.
How much does Virmp cost?
VIRMP Registration This year the cost hasn’t changed, and you’re looking at $90 for 10 or fewer applications. As you evaluate programs you can always go up to the next level if needed.
What is Vet match day?
At 8:00am on (usually) a February morning, veterinary students and doctors who have applied to post-graduation internships or specialty residencies learn where they will (or won’t) be spending the next year (in the case of internships) or three years (in the case of residencies).
How competitive are veterinary residencies?
Veterinary residencies are competitive and only the best veterinarians are selected. Following successful completion of their residency program, they must then successfully pass demanding, comprehensive examination requirements to become a board-certified veterinary specialist.
